At CHiR, we mean business

    CHIR.fm wants to work with local businesses to help improve the business climate on Salt Spring Island and the other Southern Gulf Islands. We have a plan to achieve this, but we need your help
    In January 2022, Gulf Islands Community Radio Society was granted our CRTC license to run a Community FM radio station. The CRTC gave us two years to get CHIR.fm on the air. We need about $50,000 to buy the equipment to get our main transmitter up and running. Since February, 2022, we have raised more than $37,000 towards this target, so we are well on our way.
    With the help of local businesses, we can raise the rest of what we need, so that we can get on the air by the autumn of 2023. We are also looking for continuing support to help us meet our ongoing operating costs

    What can CHiR do for you?

    Our vision is to become the voice of the Gulf Islands, creating and producing local audio content for broadcasting, podcasting and streaming. We represent a brand-new promotional outlet for businesses located on the Gulf Islands, providing innovative and different types of audio programming to fit different business objectives. We are also community-owned, meaning that we are responsive to local issues and are looking to be something that commercial radio stations aren’t.
